Serena Williams, winner of 23 ‘big’, assured this Wednesday that she faces the last United States Open United of his career “as a bonus” and that he enjoys every moment on the track, aware that “he has nothing to prove” and “absolutely nothing to lose”.

“I am super competitive I see this as a ‘bonus’. I have nothing to prove, I have nothing more to gain. I have absolutely nothing to lose. Honestly, I haven’t played in these conditions since 1998″, Serena said in the interview at the foot of the field, after beating the Estonian Anett Kontaveit, number two in the world, in the second round.

“Actually, I had an X on my back since 1998, so now it’s fun. I enjoy the simple competition and had not done it for a long time“, added.

Serena, from 40 years old, showed his competitive spirit and beat Kontaveit 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-2 to reach the third round, in which they will face the Australian Ajla Tomjanovic.

“Honestly, when I lost the first set I thought, I have to give everything because this can end. I just wanted to keep trying, see what I could do. I gave it my all, it was very good”, she acknowledged.

Minutes later, at the press conference, he again told anecdotes about his way of approaching this last tournament.
