Target is recalling white chocolate animal cookies sold in its stores across the United States because they may contain metal.

The cookie recall was initiated when metal was found (wire) inside a portion of the snacks. Market Pantry White Fudge Animal Cookies are covered with white frosting and sprinkles and stored in a 44 oz. plastic bear jar.

Cookies subject to withdrawal have an expiration date of 21 February, lot number Y052722, timestamps of 15: 00 to 23: 00 and with UPC code 085239817698. According to the cookie company, no other lots or products are affected.

Cookie data subject to recall can be found on the back of the bear packaging, below the nutritional panel.

The notice shared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns that “foodborne foreign objects that are hard, sharp, and large are more likely to cause serious injuries or dental injuries.”

“Foodborne foreign objects that are they are flexible, not sharp and shorter in length and are more likely to cause minor injuries, such as transient suffocation or small lacerations in the gastrointestinal system,” the statement reads.

Affected Market Pantry White Fudge Animal Crackers were shipped to Target retail stores nationwide, but it is unknown how many products were affected.

Affected in Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are encouraged to stop using the product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
