A young man was stabbed four times on a street in Upper Manhattan yesterday in broad daylight and as he ran wounded into traffic to escape, he miraculously ran into NYPD officers who came to his rescue.
The troops were aboard a car without police markings in Inwood. The 23 year old victim was walking down Dyckman Street near the corner of Vermilyea Avenue around 2: 10 pm when a man she knew approached her from behind, according to dramatic surveillance video published by New York Post .
There was an intense fight between the two and the attacker of 22 years old pulled out a knife that he had hidden in his clothing and stabbed the victim as the two spilled onto the sidewalk under the gaze of a woman who did not move, in front of a jewelry store, “Oscar’s Gold and Diamond”.
Victim tripped with traffic on Dyckman Street, in what appeared to be an attempt to escape her attacker. Luckily for him, the car he ran into turned out to be a police patrol without identification, according to the manager of the jewelry store, Abner Ureña.
“The police came from everywhere. We are certainly not used to a response time like that”

A swarm of police officers got out of the car, some with their weapons drawn, and arrested the alleged stabber, according to the witness. “The victim realized that he was going to lose the fight, so he ran into traffic,” said Ureña, of 31 years. “Fortunately for him, the car he ran in front of turned out to be an undercover police car.”
“The police came from everywhere. We’re certainly not used to a response time like that,” added the store manager.
The victim was transferred to a local hospital in stable condition. Her name and that of the alleged attacker arrested were not immediately revealed, nor was the reason for the violent complaint.
