The legendary tennis player Serena Williams put an end to her tennis career this Friday night when she was defeated by the Australian Ajla Tomljanovic and thus marked the end of an impressive career of 23 Grand Slam titles.
Williams’s previous statements made it clear that this could be her last performance as a professional and although she did not give up trying to win a marathon match, she could not become the oldest tennis player to advance to the second week of the US Open.
The public flocked to the USTA Billie Jean King in favor of Serena Williams despite the high cost of tickets, which ranged from $535 and more than $11,600 dollars and each point he earned ignited an atmosphere rarely seen in Flushing.
