An apparent streak of bad luck caused the death of young Paul Montenero when he fell from a bridge in Orange County, New York after his car broke down on Tuesday night.
Apparently the 29 year old driver was trying to get to a safer place after his car broke down on a bridge, but fatally fell on the way through a hole in the road just before 10 pm on Tuesday.
Police of New York State (NYSP) reported that Montenero, a resident of Poughkeepsie, was driving eastbound on the interstate 81 when his vehicle stopped working on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
That is why he got out of his car and tried to access the pedestrian walkway located next to the road. But in his efforts to get to a safer place, he later fell through a gap between the roadway and the pedestrian walkway, detailed ABC News.
Montenero’s body was recovered in the waters of the Hudson River, just below the bridge, by the Orange County Technical Rescue Team (OCTRT). The bridge was closed for several hours during the rescue, reported Hudson Valley Post. The investigation was ongoing, but no wrongdoing is suspected.
