BUENOS AIRES – The man accused of attempted assassination of the Argentine vice president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, refused to testify this Friday when questioned by the judge and the prosecutor in the case, police sources confirmed to Efe.

The detainee for attempted murder of the vice president, Fernando Sabag Montiel, refused to testify before federal judge María Eugenia Capuchetti and prosecutor Carlos Rívolo, in charge of the investigation, who had agreed transferred before 9: 00 pm to the police station where he is staying.

The detainee for attacking the vice president is a man of Brazilian nationality, aged 35 years old, who does not have a criminal record in his country of origin, since the weapon seized from the suspect is a Bersa caliber 32 automatic, which, at its base, has partial numbering 250, suitable for shooting, according to the Ministry of Security.

The head magistrate of the Federal Criminal and Correctional Court 5 had gone to Cristina Fernández’s home around 11: 00 am and remained inside for about an hour, after having inspected the area in the early hours of the morning.

Before going to the home of the former president, the judge and the prosecutors responsible for the case also took statements from the witnesses of the attack.

The attack on Cristina Fernández took place in a context of strong political tension between the ruling party and the opposition, which has grown since on Monday of last week a prosecutor requested a sentence of 12 years in prison for the vice president in the context of the oral trial to which she is subjected for alleged irregularities in the concession of public works during her Government.
