republican-leader-kevin-mccarthy-accuses-joe-biden-of-“attacking-democracy”-in-the-united-states

The leader of the Republicans in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, accused President Joe Biden of launching an attack against democracy, shortly before the president gave his speech precisely on democracy in the country.

“For the past two years, Joe Biden has launched an assault on the soul of the United States, its people and its most sacred values. He has launched an attack against our democracy”, reproached the congressman from Pennsylvania.

McCarthy cited economic and security problems in the United States, saying that “never has an Administration promised so much and achieved so little” , and called on US citizens to “change direction” in the midterm elections to be held in November.

“Washington and the White House are not listening (…) The United States is becoming increasingly poorer, less safe and less free,” the legislator said in a speech before Republican voters.

The congressman criticized the social spending policies of the Biden administration and accused him of generating the “greatest inflation crisis” in the country’s history.

McCarthy also pointed out the US executive for creating an “immigration crisis” at the border.

Therefore, encouraged to participate in the November elections member to the House of Representatives and the Senate, currently controlled by the Democrats.

“Our nation can flourish again with a new Republican majority”, said the congressman.

McCarthy gave this message a few hours before the speech that Biden will give prime time in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), a city considered the cradle of democracy in the country.

The president denounced the danger posed to democracy by Republicans who support former President Donald Trump and those he calls “MAGA Republicans”, an acronym for “Make America Great Again”, the Republican’s campaign and presidential slogan.

Given criticism of Biden for proselytizing with his sights set in the legislative elections, the White House spokeswoman, Karine Jean-Pierre, assured last Wednesday at a press conference that Biden will not talk about Trump or tell people who to vote for.

According to Jean-Pierre, the mandate ario will talk about “American democracy” and about the “fundamental struggle between democracies and autocracies around the world”.

“It will go far beyond a party or a specific person. It will be an optimistic speech about where we are as a Nation and where we can go”, he asserted.
