A total of 19 alligators, 874 ammunition of various calibers and 4 rifles, among other pieces related to the drug trafficking, were seized in an abandoned residence in Manatí, a municipality in the north of Puerto Rico.
The reptiles, as well as several magazines, controlled substances and two bulletproof vests were found Thursday night in the Cerro Gandía sector of the aforementioned city, detailed the local authorities this Friday in a statement.
The animals and the rest of the objects were taken care of while the Police were looking for a missing young man, identified as Josbriel Manuel Rivera Maldonado, of 28 years old.
When the agents arrived at the Cerro Gandía sector and where they were looking for Rivera Maldonado, they entered an abandoned residence, where they found the alligators and the rest of the objects linked to drug trafficking.
At the moment no one has been arrested, while p Personnel from the Department of Natural Resources took charge of the alligators.
Sergeant Ángel Núñez López, from the Homicide Division of the Vega Baja Area, is in charge of the search for the missing youth.
The Commissioner of the Puerto Rico Police, Antonio López Figueroa; The Assistant Commissioner for Criminal Investigations, Colonel Roberto Rivera Miranda, and the Mayor of Manatí, José A. Sánchez González, indicated that this investigation is continuing.
