A Tennessee woman was kidnapped after being forced into a vehicle while she was about to jog in Memphis, Tennessee, early Friday, police said.
Eliza Fletcher, of 35 years old, was running shortly before 4: 30 am Friday near the University of Memphis when she was abducted and forced into a dark-colored mid-size van, according to the Memphis Police Department.
Fletcher was described as 5 feet 6 inches and 137 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. She had her hair pulled back in a bun and was wearing a pink top with purple shorts. She is also a local teacher known for running in that area, reported FOX 13.
“Upon arrival at the scene, officers were informed that a woman was jogging in the area at approximately 4: 20 am when an unknown person approached him”, indicated the police, who were notified around 7: 39 am “According to reports, the woman was forced into a pick-up truck and was removed from the scene.”
The authorities managed to find some of her personal belongings, but they still have not located her whereabouts. So far it is known that the alleged kidnapper was described as a man who kidnapped her while she was returning from running.
Fletcher works as a teacher at St. Mary’s Episcopal School. The school principal, Albert Throckmorton, took it upon himself to send a letter to the older students informing them of the kidnapping.
“We join the Fletcher and Wellford families in praying for Liza’s safety” , points to the letter shown by FOX . “We haven’t told our younger students about Mrs. Fletcher. We are supporting older students as they learn of this news.”
The FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are reportedly assisting with the search.
