A New Hampshire woman won $1 million in the lottery with a ticket given to her by her mother-in-law for her birthday.
The 19 August, Shannon Mee of Derry, claimed the winning at the offices of the Massachusetts State Lottery, as reported this week by MassLive.
The lucky winner obtained the prize with a “$12,000,000 Bonus Wins”.
Mee’s mother-in-law had given her the ticket for her birthday.
The ticket was purchased at “Richdale Food Shops” in Canton, Massachusetts, located at 2160 Washington St.
The winner chose to request the money in a single payment, which ended up being $650,000 for taxes. The business that sold the ticket received a commission of $12,000.
Part of the cash, the woman will use to repair her home.
On August 19, more than 600 winning lottery tickets of at least $600 in Massachusetts, including 12 in Springfield and 22 in Worcester.
