Real Madrid wants to anticipate all possible scenarios regarding the final result of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in the case that pits UEFA against the founding clubs of the Super League (Juventus, Barcelona and the ‘Merengue’ team).
According to the media outlet ‘Besoccer’, Real Madrid is already thinking of a strategy to face a possible sanction of up to three years without participating in the Champions League, which it could be applied by UEFA if it wins the aforementioned case.
This source assures that the group chaired by Florentino Pérez would have savings of a little more than $780 millions of dollars to face what would be a severe blow to its economy as a result of its absence from a competition as important as the Champions League.
In the event that the CJEU finally rules in favor of UEFA and the three founders of the Super League are expelled from the competitions European Unions, the ‘Merengue’ team would be prepared to continue maintaining its current rhythm without harming its accounts.
When will the CJEU rule?
Currently, the hearings on this case, which began a few months ago, are suspended. However, after the Qatar World Cup 2022, specifically December 15, the general counsel will be able to launch a legal opinion before the CJEU ruling is produced.
Despite this, the official ruling will not be given until the first quarter of 2023 when the 15 judges of the CJEU have ruled on this case and make a certain decision on the Super League, its founders and UEFA.
