The Colorado police published a video in which a train can be seen crashing into a police patrol in which a suspicious woman was arrested in the back of the vehicle.
In the Fort Lupton Police Department shared footage of a dash cam video showing Yareni Rios-Gonzalez inside the car where she was hit by the train.
The Hispanic is admitted to a hospital with numerous injuries, but is expected to survive, reported the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm in Fort Lupton on Friday night. A Plateville police officer stopped Rios-Gonzalez’s vehicle just over the railroad tracks and parked the squad car at the intersection.
The woman was taken to the back of the police car, which was struck by the train while the officers searched her vehicle.
“Officers cleared the suspect vehicle to determine if anyone else was in the vehicle,” the Fort Lupton Police Department said in a statement. “Within seconds, the Platteville Police vehicle, containing the detainee, was struck by a northbound train. Fort Lupton officers immediately called for medical assistance and began life support measures.”
The Plateville Police Department placed one of the officers involved on paid administrative leave, the Denver Post reported. .
For its part, the Fort Lupton Police Department is investigating the report of road rage, while the Colorado State Patrol is investigating the accident. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is investigating the Hispanic woman’s injury while she was in police custody.
