historical:-andres-guardado-equaled-the-legendary-claudio-suarez-as-the-mexican-with-the-most-official-matches-with-the-tri

In 17 years of professional career with El Tri, midfielder Andrés Guardado managed to equal the historical record of Claudio Suárez, as the player with the most official FIFA matches played with the Mexican national team.

With Tuesday’s match against Colombia, “The Little Prince” reached 177 official matches wearing the Tri jersey.

Although Guardado had managed to reach the 178 matches with El Tri in the game against Peru, FIFA did not count the matches against Martinique and Guadeloupe, because they are not considered typical or ‘A’.

In the opinion of FIFA, these two matches are not valid for the Guarda brand because neither Martinique nor Guadeloupe are federations recognized by the governing body of world football.

According to the TUDN count, Guardado accumulates 179 matches with the Mexican national team, of which 177 are recognized as official by FIFA.

Debuted on 14 December 2005 against the national team of Hungary, and since then he has scored a total of 28 goals.
