biden-and-desantis-finally-coordinate-directly-on-hurricane-ian-in-florida

President Joe Biden and the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, established a telephone communication to coordinate on the impact of Hurricane Ian in the state, which could occur early Thursday morning.

This was confirmed by White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre in a message on Twitter.

“President Biden spoke this morning with Governor DeSantis of Florida to discuss the actions that the federal government is taking to help Florida prepare for Hurricane Ian,” the spokeswoman said earlier in the day. “The President and the Governor are committed to continuing close coordination.”

There are reports that the hurricane could reach category 5, but it is currently a level 4 with winds up to 155 miles per hour.

President Biden and DeSantis had not spoken directly about the impact of Hurricane Ian, but last weekend the Democrat approved the emergency declaration to order the deployment of financial and human resources to help Florida in the face of the storm.
