Karim Benzema, who was injured at the beginning of the month in the Champions League match against Celtic in Glasgow, returned to training with the rest of his teammates. This means that the Real Madrid captain could reappear on Sunday, in the resumption of LaLiga Santander, against Osasuna.
Benzema has been out since September 6 at Celtic Park, where he had to be replaced by Eden Hazard, due to an injury to the semitendinosus muscle and an overload in the quadriceps, both in the right thigh. The Frenchman missed the games against Mallorca and Atlético de Madrid in LaLiga, and against RB Leipzig in the Champions League; as well as France’s call-up for the last two Nations League matches.
The Frenchman worked under coach Carlo Ancelotti, who had several of the players who were with their respective teams , like the Belgians Thibaut Courtois and Hazard, the Gauls Eduardo Camavinga, Ferland Mendy and Aurelien Tchouameni; the Austrian David Alava and the German Antonio Rüdiger.
The Real Madrid footballers, who also trained together with teammates from the subsidiary team, completed physical, possession and pressure work; as well as tactical exercises, to end with games on small pitches.
According to information from the club, Lucas Vázquez continues with the process of recovering from his muscular problems suffered against Mallorca. For his part, Luka Modric worked out in the gym after leading Croatia’s qualification for the final phase of the Nations League.
