A high school basketball player, just 17 years old, was fatally shot on a Brooklyn street this Wednesday night, according to police .
The teen was “hanging out” with several people off of 1225 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights when two armed men approached the group and opened fire shortly after 6: 15 pm, the authorities announced.
The girl, who was a “ unwanted target,” according to sources at The New York Post, she was shot right in the face, so she was taken to Brookdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Apart from the clever shot, no other injuries were reported. At this time it is unclear who in the group the shooters were targeting shortly before killing the teenager.
The two suspects, who were wearing dark clothing, fled the scene and no arrests have been made. at the moment.
Six shell casings were recovered at the scene, according to the police.
The deadly shooting is the latest in this week’s bloody spell of citywide violence. Between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, at least 16 people were injured in nine separate shootings.
