R. Kelly was sentenced to pay $300,000 dollars to two of the victims who reported him for sexual crimes.
According to a TMZ report, the interpreter of “I Believe I Can Fly” must compensate for part of the damage caused to two women identified as Jane and Stephanie because they require therapy and treatment for herpes.
The New York Post news portal reported that the federal district judge, Ann Donnelly, determined in a hearing in Brooklyn that the singer must pay at least $300,000 dollars to the victims, an amount that could increase after a new calculation derived from the medications that one of them required.
R . Kelly was present at the hearing via Zoom because he is in a prison in Chicago for the sentence of 30 years that the same judge imposed on him last June.
Prosecutors argue that R. Kelly used his fame and fortune for more than 20 years to abuse women, including minors.
The Grammy winner is also being accused, on separate charges, of child pornography and abuse to minors, the singer is awaiting the corresponding sentence for these crimes, which would be added to his 30 years in prison.
