New York singer of Dominican origin Romeo Santos bet on the future of bachata this Tuesday on the second day of Billboard’s Latin Music Week, where he announced that he will donate $120, dollars to Puerto Rico for the damages suffered by the Caribbean island due to Hurricane Fiona.
Santos was interviewed today at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach, where he spoke about his latest album, “Fórmula Vol.3”, which, as he said, took time to come out, something he doesn’t care about because, he assured, he intuitively follows his creative vein.
“We won as a (Latin) culture, we left our stamp, which is universal”, said the “King of Bachata”, of 41 years , about the health and future of this musical genre when asked if there are enough artists who bet on that rhythm born in the Dominican Republic, the land of their parents.
Santos, nominated in the category for Best Long Version Music Video together with the group Aventura & Bad Bunny in the best Urban Fusion/Interpretation category with the song “Volví”, he highlighted that an example of the good health of the genre is that the Spanish Rosalía has entered with a song like “Pañuelo”.
Regarding his latest album, “Fórmula Vol.3”, he highlighted the collaborations of Justin Timberlake (“Endless”) and Christian Nodal (“I miss myself”). Both, he maintained, are a sign of his spirit to innovate.
“I always take risks and try to do something different”, he pointed out, in addition to pointing out that, in any case, he likes to follow his instinct and let “everything flow”.
Santos spoke of his three children, who precisely make an introduction with their voices new album, the same as the comedian Katt Williams.
“Before I was selfish and now I think about serving them because those creatures depend on me”, highlighted the bachatero.
He also said that now all his attention is focused on his last son, Solano, born 17 months ago, whom he tries to take care of as best he can despite his professional commitments. .
“Children have those things that wake you up at dawn and I have the ability to catch him and make him fall asleep”, said Santos, who also got up from his chair to show how he does it, which caused applause from the public.
Regarding the inspiration for his songs, he assured that it is based on things that happen to his friends and even to himself, as he put it: “incredible life experiences”.
“Every creator has something crazy about him. In the songs I try to surprise the public”, highlighted the artist.
Santos has a track record that has led him to win 17 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 8 Lo Nuestro Awards, 2 Youth Awards, 4 Guinness World Records and 2 Latin American Music Awards, among other awards.
