A mine located in the municipality of Indé, in the Mexican state of Durango, collapsed, leaving one person dead and one more injured, the state governor, Esteban Villegas, reported this afternoon.

Civil Protection elements of the entity arrived in the area to provide immediate attention, according to the governor. According to the authorities, the event occurred shortly before noon, however, so far no further details about the incident have been shared.

The Durango State Civil Protection Coordination (CEPC) shared the first details of this accident, in which he reported the collapse of a gambusina mine. In the same message, the agency explained that more information on the incident would be provided.

“A collapse is reported in a Gambusina mine in the municipality of Indé, our coordinator, as well as personnel from this unit, are already flying to the site, together with emergency response corporations,” the authorities expressed through their official accounts. .

Governor Villegas instructed immediate attention, so the team of Civil Protection, specialized rescue services and elements of priority medical attention were deployed in the mine located near the town of San Rafael de Jícora.

“I have instructed immediate attention to the unfortunate accident in a mine in the municipality of Indé. Civil Protection teams, a specialized rescue service, and priority medical attention have already been deployed,” the president wrote on his official Twitter account.

According to data from local media, the person who lost his life after the collapse, she carried out drilling tasks, she was originally from the municipality of Cuencamé and was 50 years old.

On the other hand, the injured person is 34 years old, like his partner, he belonged to the same town hall; The subject was taken to the Regional Hospital of Rodeo in Durango, where he receives medical attention.

It should be noted that the town of Indé is small and that its main economic activity is mining, as it is a community located in the north of the state and on the border with Chihuahua.

The media in the region stated that the miners were carrying out drilling tasks inside the deposit when it broke off and stones fell on them.


Last month the Pinabete mine, located in the state of Cohauila, also collapsed, and a dozen workers were trapped in the accident, who could not be rescued despite the government actions.
