maryland-man-finds-out-he-won-$7-million-playing-scratch-off-over-breakfast

A man from Maryland went to his office like every day and started to have breakfast while scratching some Virginia lottery tickets. It was then that Eric Austin realized that he had hit a jackpot on one of the tickets.

The man said that at first his mind couldn’t register that he had won, so he had to review it a few more times. And it was not for less, because Austin had earned a huge fortune of $7 million dollars, as reported on the Idaho Statesman portal.

The Maryland resident bought his tickets at a store 7-Eleven in the city of Alexandria, near where he works, he told lottery officials when he went to pick up his prize.

The man took the tickets to his office to scratch them while he ate breakfast.

Austin had the option to collect the entire prize in annual payments over 30 years, or collect a single lump sum payment of $4.2 million before taxes, according to lottery officials. The player chose the single payment option.

The odds of winning the $7 million jackpot in the game ’50X The Money’ are 1 in 2,611,200, according to the Virginia Lottery.

The 7-Eleven that sold the winning ticket received a bonus of $10 thousand dollars.
