new-violet-m&m:-a-new-character-to-promote-the-acceptance-and-inclusion-of-social-differences

For the first time in a decade, M&M’s is expanding its iconic team with the introduction of a new character and spokesperson: Purple.

This character was designed to represent acceptance and inclusion, and is the newest member of the candy family. Purple will be recognized for her candid self-expression, keen self-awareness, authenticity and confidence.

These driving forces are part of the charm and quirky nature of Purple as she joins the legendary cast of characters from M&M’s, who were recently given an update with new looks and more nuanced personalities, in January.

“Mars is thrilled to introduce the world to the newest member of the cast of characters from M&M’s. There is much about our new spokesperson that people can relate to and appreciate, including her willingness to embrace her true self. Our new character reminds us that celebrating is what makes us unique,” said Jane Hwang, global vice president of Mars Wrigley.

“The story of our purpose has just begun and the presentation of our new M&M’s is the next chapter as the brand continues to delight fans with fun in a way only M&M’s can,” added Wrigley.

M&M’s notes that art and entertainment are powerful ways to inspire connection and fun, and to mark this global debut, Purple is harnessing the power of music to showcase their individuality with the release of their first single and music video.

The music debut titled “ I’m Just Gonna Be Me” features the talents of saxophonist Grace Kelly, dance and choreography masters Devin Santiago and Colo Cag, celebrated opera singer Anthony Roth Costanzo, and guest appearances from the rest of the M&M’s crew, including Flowing red, yellow, orange, brown, blue and green.

As part of the M&M’S FUNd, a global initiative aimed at tracking brand impact in its mission to increase ten million people’s sense of belonging to 2025, “I’m Just Gonna Be Me” will be available on major music streaming platforms and will support inclusive arts and entertainment.

For each stream, a donation of one dollar (up to $500,000 Dollars) to Sing for Hope, a nonprofit organization that harnesses the power of the arts to bring hope, connection, and purpose to millions of people around the world through music.
