Ozuna’s new album is called “Ozutochi”, this work that he describes as innovative will be released in October. A few hours ago he spoke about this in Miami, and applauded the success that the urban genre is currently experiencing and also the success of music in Spanish.
“It is important to represent ourselves without having to change our vision. What we are now enjoying of not having to switch to another language for people to connect is very important,” Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, Ozuna, from said in an interview with Efe. years, a world reference in urban music.
“We, as Latinos, are an example that coming from nothing we can fulfill our dreams“said the singer, finalist in two categories of the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2017, who they will be delivered tomorrow, Thursday, at a gala in Miami.
“Like us, every kid -young- today dreams of being an artist and that way maybe the idea of being on the street will be taken away,” he said about the contribution to society of artists, like him, from popular neighborhoods in Puerto Rico.
The Latin Billboard Awards
Ozuna visits the American city these days Come from Miami to participate in Billboard’s Latin Music Week, which begins on Monday, and in the award ceremony.
The events of this annual event held at the Faena venue Forum in Miami Beach have been conditioned by the passage through the region of Hurricane Ian, category 4, which made landfall on the west coast of Florida this Wednesday.
“The new album mixes jazz, techno, bachata and mambo with what is reggaeton, that is, different fusions“, said about “Ozutochi” the Puerto Rican, who a few years ago the magazine “Time” included in its list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
“We have done endless things that have transcended the world and that is what makes us stand out”, said the artist about his figure, who with his debut album, Odisea (2017), reached the top position of the Top Latin Albums list.
Ozuna , which was planned to a performance this Wednesday canceled by the passage of Hurricane Ian, he did not want to advance details of the new album and limited himself to saying that it includes 16 songs, a work in which he collaborates with other musical figures, both established and new, who are making their way at the moment.
New generations
“Always pointing to what the new generation is, but also giving importance to the current public and with attention to sounds different. In this production I also liked to put new elements”, he said about his latest work that will be released after several delays.
“I really love collaborating and targeting new talent , as in the case of Tini -Argentina Martina Stoessel-, a new generation that joins what is Ozuna’s project”, he underlined.
“Through Tini a new audience consumes Ozuna and I love that”, he said about his desire to open up to new styles and collaborations, although he did not want to give details of the rest of the artists who participate in “Ozutochi”.
Ozuna is a success story dating back to 2012, when he released the song “Imaginando”, the beginning of a musical adventure that has led to sell close to 15 million records, which places him among the Hispanic artists most successful of recent times.
The accumulation of experiences
“My experience since I started has been a true university. I’ve learned a lot and in the end, if it hadn’t been for everything that’s happened, I wouldn’t have become Ozuna,” said the singer.
Regarding the recipe for his success, He pointed out that the answer must be found “in producing well, quality and lyrics, which are elements to achieve it”, although, he clarified, “years of experience and collaborations also influence”.
He said that in order to connect with the public in the songs, it is based on things that happen daily, such as love, because, he pointed out, “we all love and we also lose hope”.
Back to “Ozutochi”, he said that he has always liked to aim for new styles, such as “mambo mixed with reggaeton and afro mixed with jazz”, all of which has resulted in his new album.
“They are fusions with which we always try to bring something new to the table, such as bachata with Romeo Santos”, he gave as an example of old collaborations
Regarding the artists with whom he would like to collaborate, he pointed to the Barbadian singer Rihanna and also to the American Bruno Mars. He also spoke of more distant markets, such as Europe, and especially Spain, where last summer he recorded the video for the song “La Copa”, included in “Ozutochi”.
