At the Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony 2022 Camilo went on stage to perform ‘Aeropuerto’, Telemundo’s official theme song for the Qatar World Cup 2022. The Colombian singer made the presentation together with a group of dancers dressed in white shirts under overalls that had a soccer ball printed on them.
Telemundo posted on its Instagram account the video of what was the Camilo’s presentation and Internet users quickly reacted by comparing this theme with official songs from past World Cups and highlighted Shakira on more than one occasion, who set the music for the World Cup in South Africa 2010 with ‘Waka Waka ‘. Some people even pointed out that this Camilo theme is the official Telemundo song for the Qatar World Cup 2022 and that it is not the official theme of the tournament.
“Nothing like Waka Waka. There is still no one who can beat her”, “Nobody beats Shakira”, “Nothing like Shakira. The music and the lyrics have nothing to do with and have no flavor like Ricky Martin or Shakira”, “Nothing like La Copa de la Vida by Ricky Martín and Waka Waka by Shakira, these really gave joy and fury in their respective World Cups” and “Hopefully @shakira come to the rescue and once again give us a super theme for the World Cup”.
In the year 2014 Shakira was also included in the list of official songs for the World Cup in Brazil 2014 with ‘La la la’, a song he performed in the World Cup final at the Maracaná stadium in Rio de Janeiro, where Germany was crowned champion against Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
The official songs of the Qatar World Cup 2022 are, so far: “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)”, performed by Trinidad Cardona, Davido and Aisha and “Arhbo”, sung by Ozuna, Gims and RedOne.
