One of the most classic Halloween candies is being recalled because it contains an undeclared ingredient that can cause a life-threatening allergic reaction in some people.
Arcade Snacks is recalling packages of 15 ounces of Candy Corn in Massachusetts and Connecticut because they may contain undeclared eggs.
Eggs are one of the foods that most often cause allergies among children. People with allergies to eggs are at risk of a severe allergic reaction.
The product subject to recall comes in a clear plastic container marked with the UPC: 018586001144 and a best buy date of March 8, 2023 on the back panel label.
The company urges consumers who have purchased Candy Corn packages on recall to return the product at the store of purchase for a full refund.

Food allergies occur when the body’s immune system reacts to certain proteins in food.
The egg is one of the eight foods identified as main major food allergens. The other popular allergens are milk, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soybeans.
Mayo Clinic explains that egg allergy symptoms range from moderate to severe and can include skin rash, hives, nasal congestion, vomiting, and other digestive problems. It also notes that egg allergy can cause anaphylaxis, a reaction that can be fatal.
Anaphylaxis usually develops suddenly and gets worse very quickly. Symptoms include: feeling dizzy or weak; breathing difficulties, such as rapid and shallow breathing; wheezing; fast heartbeat; cold and clammy skin; confusion and anxiety; collapse or lose consciousness.
The Mayo Clinic warns that the severity of egg allergy reactions can vary from time to time, “even if a past reaction was mild, the next could be more severe ”.
