As she prepares to welcome her first child, Kelly Osbourne was given a diagnosis she hoped she would never receive.

It was last May when Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter took to Instagram to break the news that she was pregnant by her boyfriend Sid Wilson, with a couple of photos showing her holding a sonogram.

She has since given very few updates on this new experience, however, Kelly Osbourne has now revealed that she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her third trimester after she urged her doctor to take a closer look some of its symptoms, such as rapid weight gain, unusual fatigue, and swollen ankles.

“At first I thought it was something I had done. I was only diagnosed well into my third trimester, so it wasn’t like I developed it as some people get it early on when they’re pregnant,” she shared exclusively with PEOPLE.

“Throughout my pregnancy, I have had no cravings except for sugar, which is something I’ve never had before,” she said while raising awareness about National Sugar Free Day, which is commemorated on October 3.

Kelly then went on to detail a change in her daily habits, as the diagnosis served as an “incentive” for her to follow a healthier lifestyle.

“I just have more energy. I am sleeping better. You don’t realize what it’s doing to you until you take it off is all I can say. I have lost 5 kilos during the pregnancy“, she assured.

Finally, as the end of her pregnancy approaches, Kelly, who says she “feels great”, wants the new moms all over the world don’t worry if you get the same diagnosis.

“I wish I had this kind of incentive before, because I’ve never been able to fulfill anything one hundred percent as I have done because I don’t do it for myself. I do it for my baby”Kelly Osbourne
