One day after the historic Tom Brady announced that he would make a significant donation to help those affected by the passage of Hurricane Ian, the NFL Foundation announced that it will donate one million dollars to support non-profit organizations that help to the people most affected by the natural disaster that occurred in southeast Florida.
The initiative joins the one undertaken by Tom Brady and the team to which he belongs, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who last Thursday also announced that they would collaborate with a million dollars for the reconstruction of homes and hostels.
The NFL Foundation will work to identify and provide funding for nonprofit organizations that will address the immediate needs of affected people in Florida.
In the statement, the league lamented the destruction that the hurricane left behind in this state. “The thoughts of the NFL family are with the various communities affected by Hurricane Ian during this difficult time and we will continue to find ways to provide help and support to those in need,” was the message from the league.
After Sunday night’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NFL will also auction some of the jerseys worn during the game and other items that fans can bid on at their official site.
There will also be a line of Florida Strong jerseys featuring the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers logos, available at the league store .
The funds raised from the sale of these products will be donated in their entirety to the American Red Cross to support the relief efforts for the damage left by Hurricane Ian.
