The countries of the G7 forum “reported that they will “never recognize the alleged annexations” of Ukrainian territories by Russia, their foreign ministers affirmed in a statement on Friday.

“We condemn unanimously and firmly Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and Russia’s continued violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence”, they added.

The group stressed that the efforts by Vladimir Putin for integrating Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson into Russian territory are proof of Russia’s “blatant disregard” for international law.

More sanctions in sight

The members of the G7 highlighted the “unacceptable violations” perpetrated by Russia to the sovereignty of Ukraine, of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles and commitments agreed upon jointly in the Final Act of Helsinki and the Charter of Paris.

They also promised impose additional economic cuts both on Moscow and on individuals and organizations both inside and outside Russia, “that politically and economically support these violations of constitutional law.”

The group also stated that the ministers reiterated his condemnation of Russia’s “irresponsible” use of nuclear rhetoric.
