Lt. Alison Russo-Elling, an FDNY paramedic lieutenant, was stabbed to death by a man with apparent mental problems on a Queens street yesterday, in an unprovoked attack that occurred while she was looking for food, authorities said.
Lieutenant Russo-Elling, a 61-year-old department veteran who was a lifeguard on the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001, was stabbed more than 20 times by an aggressor in 20th Avenue and 34st Street yesterday around 2: 20 pm, police said. “We lost one of our heroes,” Mayor Eric Adams said during a news conference.
