Katy Perry is being criticized by music fans for the lyrics of her song “Dark Horse”, as it refers to the crimes of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, after the launch of the series “Monster Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”.

Specifically, the attacks against Perry focus on a stanza of the aforementioned song: “She eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer”, says the song. A phrase that translated into Spanish says: “She will eat your heart like Jeffrey Dahmer.”

On her day it was something that went unnoticed due to the lack of knowledge of the butcher’s story. But after the premiere of the Netflix production, this has changed.

“Why is no one calling out Katy Perry for allowing such vile and terrible lyrics to be included in one of her hit songs? Jeffrey was a notorious serial killer and Katy CHOSE to romanticize his criminal and inhuman actions. YOU NEED to apologize“, is one of the comments made by an Internet user on Twitter.

“It is a lack of respect for the families of the victims. I am sorry for your losses”, added one more.

However, while some attack the content, others defend the Perry for the fact that the name of the serial killer has appeared in many other songs.

Kesha’s song “Cannibal”, by 2010, also includes a lyric referring to Dahmer that reads: “Be too sweet and you’ll be lost, yeah I’ll pull out a Jeffrey Dahmer”.

And Eminem has included references to Dahmer in three of his songs: “Because it would probably be Dahmer”, in his song by 2010 “Brainless”. He also made references in the 1991 songs “Must Be The Ganja” and “Bagpipes From Bagdad”.

Dahmer , known as the Milwaukee cannibal, wreaked havoc in the city of Wisconsin between 1978 and 1978, killing 16 children, adolescents and men in a period of 13 years.

His horrific crimes are now retold in the new Netflix show of 10 parts, which premiered on 21 September and stars Evan Peters, Niecy Nash, Molly Ringwald and Richard Jenkins.
