The NASCAR driver in his Camping World Truck category, Jordan Anderson, was involved this Saturday in a terrible accident when his vehicle caught fire in the middle of a curve and he suffered second-degree burns.

Anderson was on the lap 19 of the race when the fire started and when he realized it he tried to pull over to avoid a major accident but at that moment the flames intensified to such a degree that before the van stopped the driver climbed out the window and tried to get as far away as possible.

Leaving the car as best he could, he kept moving away to avoid a greater evil and later threw himself on the pavement waiting for medical services.

Once he was stabilized and taken to a hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, Anderson himself confirmed that he suffered second-degree burns to his neck, face, knees, hands and right arm, although he thanked God for having “protected” him.

“Without a doubt, the hand of God was protecting me at that moment. The scariest moment of my racing career by far,” he commented.

Finally, the driver assured that in a few weeks he will be able to heal his burn wounds, according to the first medical reports .

“The doctors say that everything should be healing in a few weeks. We’ll keep everyone posted on the healing process, but I’m thankful it wasn’t worse.”
