Josef Martínez’s recent games have shown that the Venezuelan is slowly trying to get back to his ‘elite’ level with Atlanta United and this Saturday was no exception as he managed to score a great goal from an earwig that could enter the race to compete for the Puskas award granted by FIFA to the best goal of the year.

The victim was New England Revolutions in the match played at Gillette Stadium, which saw Josef Martínez fly into the air and acrobatically spliced the ball to score one of the MLS Goals of the Year.

In the minute 81′ Atlanta was losing 1-0 and after looking for the whole game, the tie was achieved through a center by Brooks Lennon that hit from The Venezuelan earwig.

His shot left the goalkeeper completely static rival and this became the number nine scored this season in the MLS.

Despite the great goal that meant the momentary tie, Atlanta could not achieve equality or victory because four minutes after the Martínez’s goal Gustavo Bou appeared to put definitive figures in favor of the local.
