Two people died in less than 24 hours in the New York Subway, in incidents at stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Last night around 8: 50 pm a man was fatally stabbed in the neck while riding a southbound L line railcar. Apparently the victim of 43 had a dispute with another passenger near the station Atlantic Ave.

The origin of the altercation was not clear. The suspect stabbed the victim in the neck and another part of the body and fled in an unknown direction, police said. The injured man was transported to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Tommy Bailey,

The night before, near the 11: 30 Thursday pm, a man jumped to his death in front of a subway train at downtown Penn Station from Manhattan.

The homeless man, believed to be about years old , jumped in front of a line 1 train entering the station 34th Street-Penn around, the driver told police.

The suicide bomber, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was not immediately identified. The trains initially ran with “extensive delays,” reported New York Post.

Mayor Eric Adams, whose election campaign focused on public safety, has implemented several measures to make the subway safer, including deploying more police in stations and cars. But so far the violence is still on the rise.
