The parties in the trial against Taylor Parker in Texas accused of killing a friend and ripping the baby out of her womb will present their closing arguments on Monday.
Tyler Morning’s report Telegraph this Friday indicates that after 12 days of proceedings, the first degree murder case is closer to reaching its end after that the defense decided not to call witnesses.
Parker, of 27, did not testify either.
The defense requested that the charge of capital murder by kidnapping be dismissed, which could involve a sentence of death penalty, since in his opinion the state criminal code on kidnapping requires that the fetus be born alive. The lawyers’ argument is that the creature was not breathing when removed from the womb. Prosecutors maintain the opposite: that he was later pronounced dead at a hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. The judge dismissed the defense request.
Parker is charged with capital murder for taking the life of Reagan Simmons-Hancock, of 12, and his unborn baby in events reported in October 2020.
If Parker is convicted, the trial moves to the criminal phase in which it will be determined whether she will be sentenced to death.
Among the last testimonies presented by the prosecution was that of the ex-boyfriend of Parker, Wade Griffin.
Griffin, of 37, testified that he met Parker at a rodeo in 2019.
According to the man, Parker started lying to him from the beginning, but he realized it later.
Parker was infertile and the woman’s intention was to attempt a pregnancy to maintain Griffin at his side.
Among other things, he told him that he had inherited millions of dollars in oil and gas royalties.
Griffin told members of the jury who believed what the The woman told her because the liar even showed her screenshots of alleged documents and emails that proved her version.
Griffin reported that, more input the relationship, Parker told her that she was pregnant, but that she had lost the baby.
Another of the defendant’s lies was that her mother had allegedly hired a hitman to take her life and that she was not safe in your house. As a result of the above, Parker told her to move in with him.
Taylor met the victim as she was the photographer at his wedding in 100 and maintained communication with the couple via Facebook.
As detailed by witnesses in court , on October 9, the day of the events, the victim was beaten and stabbed in four or five areas of his house until he died in the living room.
The woman showed several defensive wounds on her hands and arms, five skull fractures, a broken nose and more than 37 stab wounds. Tests indicate that she was hit with both ends of a hammer as well as with a jar.
