The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) fired this Saturday the neurotrauma consultant who treated Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins quarterback, for the concussion he suffered last Sunday in the duel against the Bills.
The dismissal was because, according to the report, the doctor made several errors in the evaluation of the passer who, not receiving an alert due to the concussion suffered, started last Thursday’s game against the Bengals, in the he received a blow again that shocked him again.
In Sunday’s duel, at the end of the second quarter, Tagovailoa was knocked down by a defensive player and his neck bounced off the grass. Getting up Tua was dizzy and stumbled. He left the field to be reviewed as per the league’s concussion protocol.
The quarterback received permission to return to the game in which he led his team to victory, a situation that did not convince the NFLPA, which immediately announced that it would carry out an investigation into the manner in which performed concussion protocol.
“Player health is at the core of the Syndicate’s mission. Our concern right now is for Tua and we hope he makes a full recovery. Our investigation into a potential protocol violation is underway”, was the message from the NFLPA.
Despite this, Tagovailoa started last Thursday’s game against the Bengals, in which he returned to be knocked down by another defender and again his neck crashed into the grass.
