One of the most controversial films this year has been ‘Don’t Worry Darling’, starring Harry Styles and Alice Chambers and directed by Olivia Wilde.
The story is based on the years 50 and narrates the moment in which a married couple, Styles and Chambers, move to another city.
The couple arrives to a city called Victory, which was built by the mysterious Victory Corporation for its employees. Throughout the movie there are many scenarios such as the main house of the protagonists, a clubhouse, a large swimming pool and other locations.
Katie Byron, production designer for ‘Don’t Worry Darling’, chose a house in Palm Beach to make it the couple’s residence. This property was built in 1963 and has an extension of 1,632 square feet distributed in two bedrooms, two bathrooms, hall , living room, dining room, kitchen and other cozy spaces.
In addition to this house, other settings were used for the film, which were chosen under the criteria of Byron, who was looking for areas in the United States that could be adapted to the years 50 but that did not represent the country of those years exactly, since the city that appears in the film is secret.
Other locations used were La Quinta Resort & Club, the Palm Springs Visitor Center and an old Enco gas station designed by Albert Frey in 1963.
Despite all the controversy behind the film, for the week of its premiere it had a good number at the box office, because as they say “let them speak badly or well, but speak. It should be remembered that even at its premiere at the Venice Film Festival Styles was said to have spat on Chris Pine.
According to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, the production grossed $19 million dollars at the box office in its first weekend, this represents $2 million dollars more than that was initially expected.
