This Monday, Hurricane Orlene made landfall in Mexico, as a category 1, reported the National Meteorological Service (SMN) of Mexico.
According to CONAGUA, the hurricane made landfall in the vicinity of Isla del Bosque, in the northern Mexican state of Sinaloa, and will move towards the north-northeast of the country.
In a statement, the SMN specified that the meteorological phenomenon “entered land as a category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, 5 kilometers west-southwest of the town of Isla del Bosque, in the municipality of Escuinapa, in Sinaloa”.
The authorities warned that rainfall could increase the level of rivers and streams, in addition to causing overflows and floods in various areas.
They urged the population to heed the warnings and comply with the instructions of the state, municipal and Civil Protection authorities .
Orlene keeps 273 municipalities and 9 states in western Mexico on alert: Jalisco, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Colima, Durango, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Michoacán and Zacatecas.
