Eduardo Escobar was hired by the New York Mets with the mission of bringing out his experience and opportune bat. After a slow start regarding his production, the Venezuelan closed the regular season with a flourish, after being awarded as the most valuable player of the month of September in the National League and also for being present in the team of the month.
With an enormous offense, Escobar was able to lead the New York Mets to seal their pass to the postseason, although they are one step away from losing the National League East Division championship after being swept by Atlanta Braves.
Escobar had a total of 35 hits, including four doubles, one triple , with eight homers and a total of 25 runs batted in. Adding also that, all these numbers easily surpassed what the Creole did in previous months.
