tua-tagovailoa-ruled-out-for-the-next-day-of-the-miami-dolphins-against-the-new-york-jets-in-the-nfl-due-to-his-brain-injury

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will have to stay one more week away from the NFL fields after his coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that it is still early for him to be back, after suffering a serious concussion on last Thursday.

According to McDaniel, they want to comply with all the protocols for this type of injury and although Tagovailoa has shown positive progress, it will be impossible to see him in uniform for the game against the New York Jets on day 5 in the NFL.

“It is too early to think of a timeline for him to come back; Tua has had a couple of good days, he is trying to follow the proper procedure and protocol, but I can say without a doubt that he will be out for the game in New York”, explained McDaniel.

Last Thursday Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in the week four game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

In one play he was knocked down and his neck hit the grass. After the blow, the pin took both hands to the height of the helmet and there they were paralyzed, after the incident he was taken to a hospital, although he was discharged the same day.

It was the second concussion of Tua, who in week 3, in an action of the duel against the Buffalo Bills, suffered a blow to the neck when he was knocked down by a defender, when he got up he was dizzy, had difficulty standing and left the game.

Despite the fact that he was subjected to the concussion protocol established by the NFL in the locker room, he returned for the second half of the game against the Bills, a situation for which the Players Association (NFLPA) initiated an investigation.

The NFLPA announced last Saturday the dismissal of the neurotrauma consultant who treated Tagovailoa for the concussion that suffered against Buffalo and allowed him to finish the contest.

A few hours later the NFL, in conjunction with the NFLPA, issued a statement in which they reported that they would make changes to the league’s concussion protocol to improve player safety, a situation that McDaniel considered appropriate on Monday.

“In terms of the new rule that will be adjusted in the future, if it is safer for the players then I agree and am happy with the steps to follow”, stressed the coach.

Regarding the ongoing investigation by the NFLPA, the Dolphins’ coach stated that they will cooperate in whatever is required. “We will be very happy to comply with what they need, we have nothing to hide.”

The coach also shared that the MRI Tagovailoa underwent came out clean.

Before Tua’s withdrawal, Teddy Bridgewater, ‘quarterback ‘ number two, will lead the Dolphins offense next Sunday against the Jets.
