According to “Medical Services: United States”, a report recently published by Freedomonia Focus Reports, spending on medical services in the US is expected to increase by 9.9% in 2022 and 7.2% annually in nominal dollars up to 2026.
According to the information, it is expected that healthcare providers will benefit from continued growth in consumer incomes and a projected increase in the number of chronic conditions driven by the aging of the US population.
Furthermore, inflation is projected to represents a significant component of nominal growth in health care spending: “Faster gains in nominal terms will be limited by efforts to limit growth in health care spending by public and private health insurance plans, state and federal government agencies and employers who purchase health insurance say”, says the report.
For 2022, medical expenses are forecast to rise 9.9% due to strong capacity utilization earlier in the year due to the wave of Covid-19 from Omicron. Additionally, as cases declined in the spring of 2022, many people returned to regular routine medical care at doctors’ offices and outpatient clinics that may have been postponed due to to the high spread of Covid- at the beginning of the year and in previous years.
According to Freedomonia Focus Reports, a high rate Economy-wide inflation and labor shortages faced by health care providers will contribute to strong spending gains in 2022.
The report forecasts for 2022 and 2026 US medical expenses in US dollars nominal and activity volumes of patients. Total expenses are segmented by provider in terms of:
– Hospital
– Physician and clinician
– Dental
– Other professional providers (chiropractors, speech therapists, etc)
– Nursing and continuing care retirement facilities
– Home health care
– Other providers, such as assisted living facilities, community centers and residential facilities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
The report indicates that the patient activity volumes are provided as follows:

– Visits to hospital outpatient facilities
