horror!-this-is-what-an-ant's-face-looks-like-up-close

One of the insects that we come across on a daily basis and that literally suffer from all inclement weather, both natural and human, are ants, which are essential in our chain of life.

The vast majority of ants are tiny and harmless, to such an extent that it is impossible for us to distinguish all their physical peculiarities with the naked eye, which means that, perhaps, very few have imagined what the face of this little being looks like .

That is why an image presented in the Nikon Small World Photomicrography Contest is giving a lot to talk about, since it stands out for showing us what the face of an ant really looks like, and the vast majority who have already seen it have come to the conclusion that it really is terrifying.

The curious photo was taken by the Lithuanian Eugenijus Kavaliauskas, with a Canon R7 and a 5X magnification Mitutoyo lens, which, although it did not win the contest, is the one that has become in news.

In various internet forums, as well as in social networks, the vast majority of users conclude that the face of an ant really looks like something “monstrous” or “out of this world”. world”. They also indicated that what appear to be the red eyes of the insect, in reality they are not and that everything is a visual effect, since in reality they are the bases of the antennae, since the eyes are not even seen in the photo. being further back. Also, these are bigger.

As to whether the ant is annoyed or angry, experts on the subject point out that this is not the case, it is simply a thought that the human being is generated, a phenomenon called pareidolia, where forms are recognized where there are none, as in this case we have a perception that it is a horrible and annoying face.

In an interview for Insider, Kavaliauskas acknowledged that his photo did not require much work or effort, because he took it one day when he was bored and that’s when it occurred to him to take an ant and put it under a microscope. “I always look for the details, the shadows and the hidden corners. The main objective of photography is to be a discoverer”, he added.

“When I started with microphotography, I also thought that all beetles looked a bit like monsters. But now I’ve gotten used to it and I’m surprised that there are so many interesting, beautiful and unknown miracles under our feet”, sentenced the photographer.
