Pablo Marí, a Spanish soccer player for AC Monza in the Italian Serie A, will undergo surgery to reduce the muscle damage caused by being stabbed in the back this Thursday, in a shopping center in Assago, on the outskirts of Milan ( northern Italy).
Marí was admitted urgently to the Niguarda hospital in Milan; but he is out of danger, lucid and even joked that he would be in the field on Monday. This was explained this Thursday to the media after a visit by Adriano Galliani, CEO of Monza.
The defender was injured after being attacked by a subject, from 20 years old, with mental problems. He stabbed four other people. One of them, an employee of the Carrrefour supermarket, died while being transferred to the hospital.

According to Galliani, Marí suffered a fairly deep wound in her back; but he is not in danger, because he did not touch the vital organs. “I am told that he will recover fairly soon. He has some injured muscles, but he is conscious”, added the CEO of Monza, a company owned by former president Silvio Berlusconi.

According to the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the aggressor was arrested thanks to the intervention of former soccer player Massimo Tarantino, who defended the Bologna, Inter of Milan and Napoli, who managed to immobilize him until the security elements arrived.
