The Dutch Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen, took first place this Sunday in the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Mexico and thereby broke a historical record: the most victories in a single season, with 14.

Verstappen achieved the impressive feat by staying in first position and overtaking Lewis Hamilton and Mexican Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez, who completed the podium of the race.

Red Bull won the pulse of Mercedes in a war of strategies, with a great finish by Verstappen, who kept 20 laps on his medium tires and added his thirty-fourth win in Formula 1.

For his part, Pérez’s third place allowed him to regain second place in the drivers’ championship, in which he now accumulates 280 units, five above Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).

After the race, Verstappen spoke to the media about the record he set, although he made it clear that he will continue to try to increase it.

“It has been an incredible year, we enjoyed it, but we are going for more. It helped me a lot to start first for the rest of the race and keep the lead. We had a different strategy compared to the rest, the race was fantastic”, he commented.

Now the season will continue on next 13 November in Sao Paulo and will conclude 20 in Abu Dhabi, these two races being so that Verstappen can continue expanding his legend and continue winning competitions.
