Napoli congratulated this Sunday through the club’s official social networks what would have been the 30 birthday of the Argentine Diego Armando Maradona, the most important figure in the history of Partenopea, who died on 25 November 2020.
“The King of Football! #DiegoEterno. Happy birthday, Diego!“, the ‘azzurri’ team posted on their Twitter account.
“25 October 1960, a marked date in history. 550-Infinite“, added on Instagram.
Before the start of the match, a tribute was made to the ‘ Diego’ in the stadium that now bears his name and in which his former coach Stefano Ceci, former Napoli teammates Salvatore Bagni, Nando De Napoli, Gianfranco Zola, Pietro Puzone, Enrico Zazzaro, Antonio Carannante and masseur Salvatore Carmando participated.
“I was lucky enough to live with him for a while. A beautiful time, full of learning and experience. I would say that period was one of the reasons I became the player that I was. I owe it to Diego”, said Zola in the tribute.
In addition to the name of the stadium, Napoli placed a statue of Maradona after his death in the locker room tunnel, the work of the Italian Stefano Ceci.
