Many “Nostradamus predictions” are floating around the Internet lately, claiming that it is about Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine that will lead to World War III.
Having already “predicted” a famine so bad that humanity would start eating each other due to the famine in 13, Nostradamus he supposedly has more in store for us with several months of global war.
The Nostradamus passage that has people nervous says “seven months of the Great War, people killed by bad deeds. Rouen, Evreux will not fall before the King”.
The British tabloid Daily Star speculates that this “could be seen as an allusion to a larger World War III conflict stemming from the problems in Ukraine that will emerge next year”, adding that “the seven-month timeline in the conflict may initially seem like cause for celebration, but with the terrifying nuclear arsenals of countries like the US and Russia, perhaps it is best to err on the side of caution.”
According to another prediction, a famine appears to be looming in which wheat prices will go up so much that people will start eating each other, which could tie in with World War III if you were interested in that sort of thing.
“Not abbots, monks, novices to learn; Honey will cost much more than candle wax. So high the price of wheat That man is agitated. The neighbor of him to eat in despair of him . ”
The good thing about predicting the future is that the more imprecise you are, the more accurate you can appear over a larger amount of themes.
Eventually, someone could attribute them to a not-so-different real-world event. They are what are known as “postdictions”, in the sense that you cannot possibly guess what was predicting before the event occurred. , but after the event, you can find a passage that makes it seem like you’ve known it all along. Even then, they are not that accurate.
For example, a passage that is touted as predicting the rise of Hitler would in no way warn you about Hitler himself:
“From the depths of Western Europe, A little boy will be born of poor people, He who with his tongue will seduce a great troop; his fame will increase toward the kingdom of the East.”
If you read it beforehand, you might guess that he meant that someone famous would be born in Western Europe, but that’s all. Once Hitler came to power, people decided that he must have been referring to Hitler and declared Nostrodamus once again to be an incredible magician of predictions thanks to this incredibly vague passage.
So, in answer to the title, probably Nostrodamus did not predict anything about Putin and the Third World War.
