A man was arrested in connection with the stabbing murder of a father and daughter in a parking lot in broad daylight in Los Angeles, California.
The crime occurred last Thursday , when Ken Evans, aged 54, and his daughter McKenna Evans, aged 22, were attacked outside a shopping center , according to police reports and local media.
Through a statement, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said they were called to the scene near 11: 25 am October 25 in connection with an assault call with a deadly weapon.
“Investigators learned of that all parties involved were in the parking lot of the location, and appeared to be living in their vehicles. The suspect had asked the adult male victim for assistance regarding his vehicle, during which an argument ensued,” the department detailed. “The argument led to a physical fight and ultimately to the stabbing of both victims.”
Police responded to the scene and arrested the suspect, whose name has not been released. Meanwhile, Ken Evans died after being taken to a hospital from his injuries, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Detectives who spoke to The Times said the man in custody may have been a passerby, but the sheriff’s department was unable to confirm that information Monday, when asked by Fox News.
McKenna’s mother, Elizabeth Evans, told the aforementioned outlet that her daughter “was full of joy and cared for both people and animals,” reported Fox News.
Furthermore, the The woman described her husband Ken as a “caring father”, who “loved to spend as much time as he could with his daughter”.
In a Facebook account that supposedly belonged to Mckenna, the The young woman said days before her death that “a lot of things are happening right now, things that leave me stressed and scared, and I could really use some prayers”, adding that “my family she still needs to find a home, but our caseworker hasn’t been very helpful.”
