Every player who debuts in Major League Baseball always has a dream and that is for their parents to see them defend a uniform from a Major League team in a regular season game, this being one of the moments more special for them and for the entire organization when it comes to an important figure.
In the case of Framber Valdez, he is considered one of the best pitchers in the Major Leagues and he has shown that in every meeting to their fans and the sidereal board. Also, his mother, Santa Delfina, has seen her son shine in each of his presentations at Minute Maid Park for two years.
His father, José Antonio Valdez, had not had the opportunity to support the southpaw live, since he has been afraid to get on a plane. However, that fear is in the past after moving from the Dominican Republic to Houston for Game 2 of the World Series where his son shone on the mound.
“I am very grateful. Happy, but very happy with what he achieved and proud of everything he has done to be here in the World Series”, commented José Antonio Valdez.
“I hope you saw me. But it felt good to know that they were both here to watch this game. I feel very proud to have my dad there, especially since there came a time when he didn’t want to come because of his fear of flying”, declared Framber Valdez.
For the second best starter of the Astros of Houston it is very special to have his parents present in a game that was very important to him, not only because it was one more in his career in a World Series. Instead, he led his team to even the series, winning his first game in a Fall Classic against his parents.
“My mom, she’s different. She has been here for two years. She is not afraid. But having my dad here gave me a little more strength, and especially because he had only seen me on television, also boys like José Altuve, Alex Bregman, Jeremy Peña. Now you can see us in person. I value it a lot”, concluded the pitcher.
In this way, Valdez has already fulfilled two of his most important dreams, now he will seek to close his season with a flourish with a World Series ring . But to achieve this, the Houston Astros will have to avoid a new bell from the Philadelphia Phillies.
