A new massacre in Colombia left a balance of at least four people killed by unknown persons on a road in the department of Valle del Cauca, in the southwest of the country, according to Colombian authorities reported Monday.
Colonel Ever Yovanni Gómez Reyes, commander of the Valle del Cauca Police Department, explained to local media that the crime was committed at 22: 30 on Sunday in a rural area of the municipality of Cartago, on the road that joins that town with that of Alcalá, when the victims were traveling on motorcycles after leaving a party.
“These people were in the Piedras de Moler sector chatting at a party. Later they leave the place towards the municipality of Cartago, where they are intercepted and killed by four individuals who were traveling on two motorcycles, who flee,” explained Gómez.
After these events, the authorities reported that a “special criminal investigation group, coordinated with the Prosecutor’s Office, has already been appointed to find those responsible for this unfortunate event”, said the officer.
The Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) together with the Ombudsman issued an alert for Cartago for “the internal dispute between members of the organized crime group ‘Los Flacos’ for the control of drug trafficking and the retail distribution of drugs that has caused homicides, threats and extortions.”
