ancelotti-puts-himself-in-xavi's-shoes:-“no-one-sleeps-well-if-their-team-doesn't-continue-in-the-champions-league”

The Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has put himself in the shoes of his FC Barcelona counterpart, Xavi Hernández, when talking about the feeling of not being in the Champions League.

“No one sleeps well if their team is not in the Champions League. In Spanish football it is a moment that has passed for many reasons but it cannot be said that it has lost credit in Europe because at the end of the season there may be one winning the Champions League and another the Europa League”, he commented.

“I would wait a bit to say that it is not competitive in Europe. It still is and we will see in the near future”, added the Italian coach.

After the defeat against Leipzig and the draw in Girona, Ancelotti took stock of the mistakes made by the white team, in order to correct them as soon as possible.

“I have learned from the mistakes we have made have been different. I think that in general we haven’t had the concentration we need in this type of game, against Girona it was difficult for us to recover the ball and against Leipzig defensive vigilance. We have talked about it because there is no time to train and hopefully it can be solved in the next games”, he commented.

Given that, the coach focused on the game against Celtic, in which Madrid will be the first in the group with a victory or having the same result as Leipzig, and gave it great importance because of the prestige that being the leader represents.

“It is an important match because the objective is to be first in the group . Celtic is a team that usually plays very intensely but we are well prepared, we want to show our best level again, and we have all the conditions to do it in our stadium, on a Champions League night”, he stated.
