The state of Wisconsin is investigating human skeletal remains found by a hunter in Florence County last week.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Wisconsin Department of Justice announced that a hunter discovered the human remains in a rural wooded area last Friday morning.

Forensic specialists determined that the skeletal remains belonged to an adult woman, but the local authorities declared that there is no indication that the remains coincide with a person who disappeared from the county area.

DCI continue with the pertinent tasks to identify the human remains and proceed with the investigation.

After receiving a call to 911, a deputy coroner was dispatched to the scene to recover the remains, reported the public information specialist Samantha Karges in a statement.

“Due to the advanced stages of decomposition, the identification of the deceased was not immediately possible and is pending comparison and DNA analysis”, said Karges.

“Foul play is not suspected at this time, however, an external examination to confirm the manner of death is scheduled”

Any person who can contribute information that may help with the investigations carried out by the authorities can contact the DCI and leave a message on the help line at 1-888-317-2426.
