The man accused of assaulting Paul Pelosi, husband of the president of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, last Friday, pleaded not guilty this Tuesday for the two charges he faces in a court in San Francis, Calif.

David DePape, 42 who is charged with assault and attempted kidnapping, also waived his right to a hearing within 10 days into her courtroom arraignment.

Judge Diane Northway set a hearing for November 4 at the San Francisco Superior Court to schedule a preliminary hearing date and bond setting.

The accusation of assault could mean a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, while that of attempted kidnapping would mean up to 20 years as the victim was a relative of a government representative, according to the Department of Justice in a statement.

According to CNN, cameras were not allowed inside the San Francisco Superior Court this Tuesday.

Paul Pelosi, 82 years old, was attacked inside his home when he was in the address I familiar. The suspect burst into the house and yelled, “Where’s Nancy?”, but the Speaker of the House of Representatives was in Washington at the time.

The investigation is still ongoing, but it was determined that the attacker forced his way in through the back door of the house, the Efe agency indicated.

The husband of Nancy Pelosi was taken to Zuckerberg General Hospital and successfully operated on for a skull fracture and various serious injuries to his right arm and hands.

DePape was also initially taken to that hospital, although details of his condition have not been provided. He is currently in jail, according to San Francisco Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kevin Wu.
